Library launches annual fund campaign to support another year of library service

Bellefonte, PA (December 12th, 2024) – Centre County Library & Historical Museum is turning to the community for support this holiday season. They hope to raise $36,000 during their annual fund campaign, running throughout December 2024 and January 2025. Funds collected during this campaign will be used to support library and museum operations at its 4 locations in Bellefonte, Centre Hall, and Philipsburg throughout 2025. This means supporting another year of library service, by adding books and digital resources to library collections, funding programs that inspire a love of reading in children and adults throughout Centre County, and more.

But why support the Centre County Library & Historical Museum? Because your contribution makes a tangible difference in areas that matter most:

  1. Child Development: Library programs and collections support the academic and emotional growth of children.

  2. Preservation of Local History: Genealogical and estate records, along with historical artifacts, and more are carefully maintained at the organization’s PA Room and Historical Museum in Bellefonte.

  3. Boosting the Local Economy: Libraries promote local businesses, provide resources for job seekers, and invest in the community.

  4. Safe Community Spaces: Libraries offer welcoming, free, and temperature-controlled environments to connect, learn, or simply relax.

  5. Free Access to Technology: From internet access to digital tools, libraries level the playing field for all residents.

  6. A Lifetime of Learning: Libraries foster a lifelong passion for reading and discovery.

“Our libraries don’t just exist for the community, they exist because of the community,” said Centre County Library & Historical Museum Communications Manager, Beth Schwartz. “Community members decorate the grounds of our library locations, shelve the books at the libraries, organize and inventory the various collections, and so much more.”

Libraries can only function with community support. While Centre County Library & Historical Museum receives aid from government sources, they also rely on private donors, organizations, and businesses to keep library doors open. Every contribution matters—whether it’s helping add one more book to the shelves or ensuring the buildings stay heated.

Donations can be made online at www.centrecountylibrary.org/donatenow or in person at any library branch. Participants can also donate by mailing a check to Centre County Library & Historical Museum at 203 N. Allegheny St., Bellefonte, and write “annual fund campaign” on the memo line. Let’s work together to ensure our libraries remain a mainstay of the Centre County experience.
