Interlibrary loan

As a measure to offset rising shipping costs and to maximize limited funds, effective April 17, 2023 the library will be providing Interlibrary Loan (ILL) services using only the Access PA catalog.

What does that mean for patrons requesting items?  Only library items held within Pennsylvania will be available for borrowing. Requests that are not listed as available through the Access PA catalog, will be returned to patrons as unavailable through ILL. If you have any questions, please contact us at illbel@centrecountylibrary.org and we will do our best to answer them.

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a free service the library offers when an item you want is not found in the library’s catalog (which includes all Centre County Library & Historical Museum locations and the Schlow Centre Region Library). The library makes the item available for you to borrow by borrowing the item from a different library system in Pennsylvania. To use ILL, please note:

  • Your library card must be in good standing.

  • There is a limit to 2 item requests per patron at one time.

  • Items must have been released for more than 6 months (otherwise they are deemed “too new” to request).

  • Requests for items should be made several weeks before they are needed.

  • Loan periods vary and are dependent on the lending library.

  • ILL items will be sent to your Centre County Library & Historical Museum home library for pickup.

  • Interlibrary Loan items should be returned by their due date as they are borrowed from other libraries.
